Overcoming Lack Of Motivation

Do you suffer from a lack of motivation? Its normal to feel that way at times, however those of us who struggle to maintain motivation need to look deeper, to our internal dilemmas and sense of conflict.

Motivation Blues

Everybody wants a good life that is luxurious and filled with material, emotional and spiritual success. A loss of motivation can indicate that perhaps, the path you are on is not the one that is right for you. It may be that you have chosen to do things for others or for yourself without taking time to fully question how it affects your life. Failure to maintain a healthy balance of public and private activity can and often does lead to no energy or motivation. If not addressed, lack of motivation will leave you with regret and a sense of loss. At the extreme end of the spectrum, a consistent lack of motivation can lead towards depression.

The message is clear. If you constantly allow imbalance to get the better of you, then your performance, and ultimately your health will become affected.

Understanding A Lack Of Energy And Motivation

Motivation is something that all successful people possess. It is the driving force that pushes a person to strive harder to attain his or her goals. It is that key element that comes from within, and tells us to never give up despite the obstacles we inevitably face.

For example, in our careers many of us feel a lack of motivation at work, because we feel that we are working too hard or perhaps aren’t being paid enough for our efforts. Such feelings of resentment can leave us feeling unmotivated. We may feel envy towards another, who has the material, emotional or spiritual success that we secretly crave for ourselves. However, success does not always have to be measured in monetary terms – it can be as simple as passing an exam or achieving a desired goal.

The meaning of success varies for the individual – This is true also of motivation. Its about what you personally want for yourself. If you do not want to have regrets in your life, then you must chase after your dreams relentlessly, because your dreams are the inspiration that creates and fuels your motivation. So ask yourself – What motivates you?

The 3 Pillars Of Balance

Success in life depends on a combination of inspiration, motivation, and perspiration. If the balance of these 3 pillars is lost, then life and your progress will become impeded.

The simplest way to maintain life-balance, is to love what you do, whatever that may be. When we love our work, and our play, there is simple contentment and a feeling of fulfilment which manifests almost effortlessly. Feeling no motivation to work means that you may need to reassess the job that you are doing and possibly even shift careers.

The experience of a painful event in life, a tragedy, a loss of a loved one, and even from the experience of stress from work cause you to lack motivation.

It is important for people to have a happy disposition in life. When a person succumbs to life problems and gets eaten up by them, it makes him or her very prone to motivation issues.

Inspiration

The role of inspiration in life is an important component towards overcoming a lack of motivation. Every success story ever told contains hardships that were weathered due to a core inspiration. When we are inspired, no matter how hard the work is, we will achieve it. When we are inspired, every bead of sweat is worth it.

An inspiration can be another, like a family or a loved one, something with material worth, or an event to look forward to. When you are inspired, you have a reason to work hard.

Reaching towards your goals is another source of inspiration, and helpful in maintaining a sustainable level of motivation. Every person in this world has his or her own goals in life. They may be short-term or long-term goals, but we all want to achieve what we set out to do.

Note: Take note of your laziness – Its your guide to knowing what does (or more importantly does not) truly inspire you!

When a person is lazy, he or she will be stagnant for he or she will feel okay with being average and not have dreams of attaining a higher position. When a person has the right attitude and works hard for his or her dreams, he or she will achieve what he or she wants in life and will go far and become successful.

Perspiration

Its time to re-frame your approach to living and put your own needs at the center of your focus. When faced with a lack of motivation, change your routine. Be brutal in cutting anything out of your life that is fueling unbalance. Delegate or dump projects that take up too much time, spend more time exercising and get plenty of quality sleep. Doing this, will help you to devote your energy to the core of your activities. Remember, life isn’t just about making money or pleasing others – Its about experiential happiness. So, ditch anything that isn’t a part of your goals.

A lack of motivation is the reason why some people give up at the point of failure. Without inspiration and perspiration, we have no motivation. Hence, we settle for comfort and safety instead of excitement and progression.

Overcoming Lack Of Motivation

Don’t let a gradual lack of motivation deter you from achieving your dreams. Make use of the 3 pillars of inspiration, motivation, and perspiration to maintain a healthy life balance.

Success is at its sweetest when it is earned through hard work and sacrifice in the face of adversity.

Remember, you are the master of your own destiny.
